A Vision Realized

In 1979, Walter E. Gomel and Ronald J. Davis, after working many years in the “Big 8” accounting firm environment, decided to launch their legal careers as partners dedicated to providing clients with personalized services in tax and business planning. Since then, the partnership they founded has flourished into a firm that offers a wide variety of services while maintaining its core focus on tax matters. The high standards first established by Walter and Ron those many years ago continue to define our firm.

Ron Davis’ Enduring Legacy

Ron DavisFounding partner Ron Davis was taken from us far too soon. Ron was afflicted by cancer in 2005, and after a valiant struggle, passed away in 2007 at the age of 59. Ron was a man with a deep sense of duty, including combat in Viet Nam as an officer in the United States Army, where he was wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart. Ron later married Kathy Davis and raised two sons, successfully balancing his busy work as managing partner of the firm with dutifully attending countless school and sporting events for his children. At the same time, Ron oversaw the growth and development of the firm while fostering a culture of client service. An engaging and widely respected attorney, Ron frequently accepted invitations to speak and share his knowledge and experience with colleagues. Even-tempered and congenial, Mr. Davis influenced his co-workers to work hard but to have fun. In the words of Ron, “Ain’t life great!”

Our Firm Today

All of our professionals have focused their education, training, and practices on taxation-related matters. Most of our attorneys have been awarded a Masters of Law in Taxation degree, have obtained a license as a Certified Public Accountant, or both. This unique distinction has permitted them to accumulate depth and breadth in tax-related matters.

The firm concentrates its practice on helping clients identify and implement efficient, effective, and creative strategies that fit their specific tax situations and achieve their objectives. Our specific areas of practice include:

  • Business Entity Formation
  • General Business Services
  • Business Sales/Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Business Divisions and Liquidations
  • Commercial Real Estate
  • Basic Estate Planning
  • Estate Tax Planning
  • Business Succession
  • Charitable Gift Planning
  • Planning for Retirement Benefits
  • Probate and Administration of Estates and Trusts
  • Asset Protection

For matters outside of the scope of the firm’s practice areas, such as litigation, Gomel, Davis & Watson, LLP maintains an affiliation with the Atlanta firm of Kaufman & Forman, P.C. Attorneys in our two firms rely on our mutual skills and experience to provide a wider range of client services.

Gomel, Davis & Watson, LLP is privileged to serve individuals and closely held family businesses in diverse industries in Atlanta, Georgia and throughout the southeast United States.

How We Can Work Together

Once a client engages our firm, we will work diligently to accomplish the goals of the client in an effective and timely manner. While some engagements terminate upon resolution of a specific issue, many of our clients call on us to provide services over a long period of time, such as acting as general corporate counsel, implementing a program of annual gifts, or periodic assistance with tax planning and compliance.

Our fees are generally based on our hourly rates for those attorneys and other personnel who perform services on behalf of a client, plus expenses. Our hourly rates range from $60 for paralegals, to $275-375 for associates, and $395-575 for senior counsel and partners. While we generally attempt to provide clients with an estimate of our fees for a particular task, we do not offer “fixed fee” engagements. It is our experience that every client situation is different, and it is impossible to know at the beginning of an engagement exactly how much professional time will be required to accomplish a client’s goals. Our standard policy when accepting new clients is to require a retainer before commencing work.

We look forward to assisting you in resolving your personal, business, and tax issues. Please contact us at 404-223-5900.
