Walter E. Gomel
Walter works extensively with closely-held enterprises to help them achieve their business objectives. He has decades of experience in advising business owners with regard to their legal and tax issues, and often provides a trusted and objective viewpoint to the BOD of family business clients. Walter has particular expertise in planning and implementing corporate acquisitions, reorganizations, and dispositions with heavy emphasis on the tax aspects of those transactions.
Walter is also widely recognized for his extensive experience in the taxation of export transactions, including the formation of Domestic International Sales Corporations (DISCs). Walter also has extensive experience in the wood products industry.
He also works closely with high net worth individuals to help them protect and transfer their wealth with minimal disruption and tax costs.
Walter is a former Arthur Young & Co. Tax Department Education Director. He is a frequent guest lecturer with topics ranging from corporate, business and estate planning to foreign income taxation. His audiences have included the Georgia Society of CPAs, Georgia Bar Association, Southern Cemetery Association, American Management Association and FSC/DISC Tax Association.
The proud father of four sons and one daughter, Walter is an avid hunter and Mississippi State sports fan. He enjoys coaching baseball, singing in the church choir with his wife Millie, and playing tennis.
