Walter concentrates his practice in corporate acquisitions, reorganizations and dispositions with heavy emphsis on the tax aspects of those transactions. He also has extensive experience in the taxation of export transactions, estates and trusts, and cemetery law.
Before forming Gomel & Davis in 1979, Walter was a Tax Manager with Arthur Young & Co. Responsible for many of the firm's large clients, he worked primarily in estate planning, corporate income taxation and consolidated return regulations.
He received his B.S., Summa Cum Laude, from Mississippi State University, where he was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Beta Alpha Psi honor societies. He earned his J.D. from the University of Alabama and his L.L.M. in Taxation from New York University. While working on his degrees, Walter was also employed by Arthur Young & Co. and Ernst & Ernst.
Walter is a former Arthur Young & Co. Tax Department Education Director. He is a frequent guest lecturer with topics ranging from corporate, business and estate planning to foreign income taxation. His audiences have included the Georgia Society of CPAs, Georgia Bar Association, Southern Cemetery Association, American Management Association and FSC/DISC Tax Association.
Walter is a member of the American, Georgia and Alabama Bar Associations, American Institute and Georgia Society of CPAs.
