David L. Watson is a partner in the Atlanta law firm of Gomel & Davis, LLP. His principal areas of practice are estate planning and wealth transfer, taxation, business succession, probate, and business planning. Typical projects for David include complex wills and trusts, administration of estates, family limited partnerships, charitable trusts, and gifting programs. David has over twenty years experience in these areas. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Prior to entering the practice of law, David was employed as a senior tax consultant at Ernst & Young, an international accounting firm. At Ernst & Young, he worked extensively in the fields of individual taxation and nonprofit organizations. He previously practiced law at the firms of Gambrell & Stolz, LLP and Powell Goldstein, LLP.
Mr. Watson's educational background includes a law degree from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Laws in Taxation from Emory University. He also received a Bachelor and a Master of Accountancy from the University of Mississippi.
Mr. Watson is a member of the Georgia Bar, the Atlanta Bar Association (officer and member of the Board of Directors of the Estate Planning and Probate Section), the Georgia Society of CPAs, and the Atlanta Estate Planning Council. In addition, he is licensed to practice in the United States Tax Court. He has spoken at numerous tax and estate planning seminars.
